Al Hilde Inducted into MBI’s Hall of Fame

April 9, 2014 in Company Info

On March 24th, 2014, Al Hilde, founder of Satellite Shelters, Inc. was recognized by the Modular Building Institute (MBI) with the Hall of Fame Award. MBI recognizes the contributions of those whose careers are dedicated to the Modular Building industry or whose acts have had a significant impact on the careers of all others involved. While MBI salutes lifetime achievement, they also acknowledge there may be individuals who, via a single breakthrough achievement, contribute so tremendously to the industry that recognition is deserved. Al Hilde was unable to attend the awards celebration himself, but his son, Todd Hilde, was on hand to accept the award and share a letter from his father.

The following is an excerpt from Al Hilde’s award speech:

“I am very proud to be recognized as a member of the Modular Building Institute’s Hall of Fame. Looking at the list of past inductees, it is clearly an honor to be mentioned among people who have been such pioneers and leaders in our industry. I believe that this industry is poised to make strides in the next few years that will surpass everything we thought possible just a short while ago.

Over the past 10 years, Marty Mullaney (president / CEO, Satellite Shelters) has assembled one of the strongest teams in the industry. Today, Satellite has 14 locations and is a full service provider of Mobile Offices, Modular Buildings, and Factory Built Permanent space solutions to customers across the United States. We have grown, expanded, and are thriving today by staying ever so close to our A-1 Policy and the Satellite Way of doing business. I’m looking forward to our continued success and future growth.

This brings me back to why I feel this industry is poised to make strides in the next few years that will surpass everything that has already been accomplished. With the help and guidance of the leaders in this room and by building the foundation of ethics, morals, and industry quality standards, the MBI has positioned this industry to move construction to a whole new level. My experience of following these same standards have brought me here tonight after 56 years in business. I tell you this philosophy works and it’s why, together, we will change the world of construction forever. Thank you again for this great honor and for the privilege of being part of this great industry for so many years.”
